A 36-year-old man from Shkodra has been arrested in Spain as part of an operation to hand him over to Albania, Interpol said. The suspect, identified as AN, was provisionally arrested in Spain under the international “The Wanted” operation, with extradition proceedings under way. In 2022, the Shkodra Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction ordered the security measure “arrest in prison” for AN over offences including attempted murder and illegal possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition. He is accused of firing an automatic firearm in March 2022 at a property owned by SS in the “Skënderbeg” neighborhood, causing material damage. Interpol Tirana continues to work with Interpol Madrid to finalize the extradition procedure.
